Kraan Live is a goodlive album documenting the instrumental side of the band. It's decidedly more funky and jazzy then the studio albums up to that point, and for that reason it might have more appeal to people that don't agree well with the Kraut side of the band. For me it's a loss, it's a good live album but it ignores the more experimental and rougher side of the band. With the opening track the album has at least one gem. It's a previously unreleased song and close to the only track with vocals on this album

Recorded live in Berlin, Quartier Latin, Oct 1974 Mixed at Conny's Studio. Back cover: Ⓟ&Ⓒ 1975 Gull Records. A division of Gull Entertainments Limited, London Distributed by Pye Records (sales) Ltd Made and printed in England. Live (2xLP, Album, Gat).
The fact that Kraan could record a double-album out of one concert date and have it all sound this good is as much of an explanation as any of the popularity of this band as a live act. Pieces from their first three albums are not merely presented, but embellished and expanded into new works entirely. Pappert's sax is used naturally rather than electronically embellished, giving some pieces a more urgent tone, and Fride's complex drumming has never sounded better.
