So how does this actually happen? According to neuroscientist, Anil Seth, we’re all hallucinating all of the time. And when we agree about our hallucinations, we call it ‘reality’. So how can we understand this ‘reality’ of consciousness better? As with life, so with consciousness, once we start explaining its properties in terms of things happening inside brains and bodies the apparent insolubility of what consciousness is, starts to fade away. Understanding the biological basis of conscious experience is one of the great challenges for 21st century science.

For historians of electronic music, the purchase of this compilation would be justified because of the inclusion of the first two tracks, often deemed as the pieces which gave birth to what we refer to today as acid house: Sleezy D's "I've Lost Control" and Phuture's "Acid Tracks". As if those twenty two minutes were not enough to shake your world around twice, there is a ton more goodies here! I'll Never Let You Go is so smooth with a floating melody which gives such a tranquil touch to the music, with xylophone chords as a nice addition as well. Jack The Bass is an old school house warehouse banger, with a menacing vocal going, you guessed it, jack the bass! Maurice Joshua's This Is Acid is another golden acid house gem, with squelching 303s layed over some cool vocals where a guy talks about the whole acid movement, giving you acid and explaining why is this the ultimate acid track. As Acid Turns is a pretty minimal thumping tune, with a constantly morphing acid line present the whole time, and some randomly thrown in vocals about God almighty knowns what. Well done, the acid synths are particularly impressive. Pump Up London is another slamming old school classic, with funky vocals and great 303s, even the beat is faster than on the other tracks here, which makes this a real club anthem. The last track has gentle piano keys colliding with the acid lead. Another great blast from the past. My general opinion is that you can enjoy this one a lot even if you were not born when these tunes rocked warehouses and underground clubs. If you were there, then you will most probably hunt this release down, play it until your hi-fi system wears out and then ask to be buried with it. But I guess good music has no time or place, so maximum enjoyment is guaranteed to all who come across this one - and trust me, some of the key tracks for further development of electronic music are to be found "We Call It Hallucinates". Old school historians and collectors, you really do need this!
