Shamall (Shamal, which loosely translates as "hot desert wind") features music which is a fusion of progressive rock, electronic, rock, pop, and classical. The project was founded by the German musician and producer Norbert Krueler in 1986. Vocals and guitars play a major role in recent releases, starting with the album who do they think they are, a concept album about the gulf war. Both follower Ambiguous points of view (2006) and Questions of Life (2008) were classified as psychedelic Krautrock and progressive rock Band members. Shamall works together with numerous different musicians all over the years. Frequent members on several releases are Matthias Mehrtens (guitar) and Mike Bach (drums).
